For more than 40 years, the City of Grants Pass and the American Water Works Association have celebrated Drinking Water Week - a unique opportunity for communities to come together and recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. As part of the annual celebration last year, the City of Grants Pass created a Drinking Water Week Poster Contest.
This year, more than 30 local students submitted original artwork focused on the theme: “There when you need it.” The artwork was submitted in four categories: Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Entrants were allowed to use crayons, colored pencils, markers, pens, or watercolors on an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper.
Entries were judged based on creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme. Thirteen winners were selected to receive $100 prizes. Winners and their artwork will be featured on City social media platforms, and on the County buses this summer.
This year’s winners include Rebecca Southworth, Quinn Wilson, Penelope Chamberlain, Salila Oldham, Annie Rodgers, Andrew Snodgrass, Brooke Odom, Blake Chamberlain, Emily Briseno, Jack O’Keefe, Jayden Clasby, Noah Teixeira, and Myla Peck.
