A deciduous conifer? Yes. Needles turn yellow to orange before dropping in the fall. A relative of the Coast Redwood. Once thought to be extinct, this amazing species was found to still be living in China in 1944. It has since returned to North America, where it was only known in fossil records. Shows some drought tolerance. Arbor Day Foundation: "The dawn redwood is very versatile—growing in acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils." Features: fall color. Full sun. Wet soil tolerant. |
