COMMENTS Many hybrids of American elms exist that have been crossed with Asian or European versions. They come in a wide variety of sizes and colors and often have superior resistance to both insects and diseases. The cultivars listed below are smaller and may be suitable to plant under powerlines with the exception of the 'Frontier' cultivar which can grow up to 40'. The following cultivars have been approved 'Frontier,' 'Summer Elixer,' and ' Emerald Sunshine.' Other cultivars need approval from Urban Forester prior to planting
