COMMENTS Slow to moderate growth rate. Beautiful leathery, green foliage. A wide range of adaptability, just not permanently wet soils. These oaks can be found from Martha's Vineyard to Texas to Oregon. Requires full sun. May be difficult to source, but a worthy addition to our streets. Missouri Botanical Garden: "Best grown in rich, moist, acidic, well-drained loams in full sun. Adapts to a wide variety of soil conditions from poor dry sandy soils to moist heavy loams. Prefers acidic soils. Good drought tolerance. May take up to 25 years for this tree to bear a first crop of acorns." Features: wildlife, fall color. Full sun.
