Fire Rescue Medical Response

Grants Pass Fire Rescue (GPFR) has been providing professional emergency medical services for the citizens of Grants Pass since 1988 when the first Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) was hired.

More than 60% of the emergencies to which GPFR responds to are medical or rescue in nature. We respond to these emergencies with highly skilled EMTs equipped with the latest technology in emergency medical equipment and training.

All three Public Safety Centers serve the citizens 24 hours a day, with every first-out Engine being staffed with a minimum of two firefighters/EMTs equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment and medications. This allows firefighters to provide BLS care for patients before the arrival of the ambulance.

Equipment & Training

GPFR strives to stay current in the emergency medical field by purchasing the latest advancements in emergency medical equipment and medications and ensuring our EMTs receive current, quality training.

Our EMTs respond to not only residential emergencies but also motor vehicle crashes, water rescue emergencies, technical rescues, and other emergencies requiring emergency medical treatment.

Because of this, our EMTs are constantly training and working in partnership with other local agencies to provide the best in quality pre-hospital emergency care:
