A permit is required to plant, prune, remove or otherwise disturb a tree on public or semi-public property, including the public right-of-way. There is no fee for a permit. Please read the following descriptions to determine which permit application is required for your proposed tree work. For more information, open the permit applications and read the details on the first page.
Tree Removal or Pruning Permit Application
This permit is for any hazardous or non-hazardous tree removal or pruning. This permit application also covers stump removals. A prequalified arborist with the City must be hired to perform the work. The prequalified arborist is required to fill out the application with the landowner’s consent.
This permit is for any proposed tree planting in the public right-of-way that is not associated with a tree removal replacement. In other words, this permit is for a new tree planting. This permit does not require a pre-qualified arborist and can be filled out by the landowner. However, if the landowner wishes to hire a contractor to perform the work, that contractor must be prequalified with the City.
Prequalified Arborist Contractors List (Public Right-of-Way)
In order to perform work in the public right-of-way, a contractor must be prequalified with the City. This document lists the current contractors who are prequalified and hold a certification from the International Society of Arboriculture. This list will be updated as contractor prequalification statuses change. (If you are seeking a tree planting-only permit, you are not required to hire a contractor).
