Rogue Community College and the City of Grants Pass are coordinating efforts for the proposed development of the Rogue Innovation Hub. The partnership in an initiative to inspire and nourish hometown cultural and economic opportunity by establishing a downtown facility as a regional creative maker space and technical innovation hub.?
An open house with photos and video of possibilities for the space will be held during First Friday, October 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the historic Grants Pass City Hall and Fire Station building, 214 SW 4th Street in downtown Grants Pass.
“There are countless people in our community that have the talent to make and create a variety of items and solutions,” said Ron Goss, director of the RCC Small Business Development Center. “But many of these people simply don’t have access to the space and equipment they need to be able to pursue their interest and dreams. This partnership with our local and regional economic stakeholders will help to create jobs while building a stronger, more connected and self-sustaining community.”?
“On behalf of the City of Grants Pass, we are very happy to be partnering with RCC and moving this concept forward,” added Susan Seereiter, business advocate with the City of Grants Pass.
Rogue Innovation Hub coordinators are working with community partners on a proposal to retrofit an existing space in the historic Grants Pass City Hall and Fire Station building, which would provide the facilities and resources to serve the Southern Oregon region as a hub for maker and technical innovation, creative entrepreneurship, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) oriented collaborative learning for community members of all ages.?
“Grants Pass has a thriving downtown, and the Rogue Innovation Hub could provide a shared space right in the middle, where people explore and learn, and entrepreneurs make new products,” said Goss.
