[ARCHIVED] Seasonal Employment Opportunity: Summer Help - Application Deadline Extended

The City of Grants Pass is currently accepting applications for temporary seasonal employment.    Positions are available in various departments.

Description for tasks in the various hiring departments:

Water Restoration Plant
Yard maintenance, painting, janitorial and building maintenance.

Water Filtration Plant:
Seasonal workers will work both independently and with city staff to maintain facilities and landscaping at the Water Filtration Plant, remote water pumping stations, and reservoirs.  Typical duties include brush clearing, weed eating, mowing, basic irrigation monitoring and repair, painting, cleaning, and other general labor.

Streets Division:
Cutting and removing vegetation in city maintained right of way areas; removing blackberries and other vegetation from various ditches; cutting grass and other vegetation in city alleyways; repainting yellow setbacks at street intersections and painting crosswalks; crack sealing of city streets; digging out catch basins.

Property Management Division:
Do you like variety?  Do you like to work both inside and out? Do you like a challenge?
 
Our division does many different things.  We maintain landscaping Downtown and other areas, water over 100 flower baskets, plant trees, gumbust sidewalks, and maintain different commercial buildings (Painting, light plumbing, light electrical, and some small construction projects).  We do it ALL - and then some!  These are just a few of the many things you can learn to do and help with if you join the Property Management team.  Live Rogue!  

Parks Division:
Grounds maintenance; empty trash cans; pick up loose trash, mow and edge lawns; weed eater; clean sidewalks and shelters with blowers; dig up sprinklers and valves; prepare shelters for weekend events.

Distribution & Collection:
Replacement of residential water meters throughout the community;data entry; manhole inspections; light brush clearing; compile field report data; shop cleaning; update records; washing division trucks and vehicles; cleaning and organization of division buildings; collecting field data related to private backflow prevention assemblies; removing vegetation surrounding water meter boxes, fire hydrants, and air release valves and other duties as assigned.
