GRANTS PASS – It will be a cold dip in an icy pool for multiple members of the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety when officers from the department take the Polar Plunge Feb. 15 to help raise money for Special Olympics Oregon. Joining team captain, Deputy Chief Jim Hamilton, will be Lt. Todd Moran, Sgt. Jeff Waite, Sgt. Mike Miner, Officer Ken Frownfelter, new Officers Drake Brennan and Shelby Biencourt, and Cadet James Loper.
Loper is currently the top fundraiser for the team, said Hamilton.
Participants will don team t-shirts and join in solidarity before taking the plunge together at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford.
“Oregon Law Enforcement has, for as long as I can remember, been part of Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run and assisting with fundraising. Our department has assisted with these events to help raise funds to support our local athletes,” Hamilton said.
This is the third year the department has participated in the Polar Plunge, he said.
