GRANTS PASS – In response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) local trash haulers and waste transfer stations have adjusted some operating hours and operating conditions.
“We recognize that the solid waste and recycling collection and disposal services we provide to our communities are vitally important in the protection of public health and the environment, and we are working hard to ensure we are able to maintain these critical services to our communities while protecting our employees from exposure,” said Southern Oregon Sanitation.
Among precautionary measures will be a temporary closure of SOS walk-in customer service offices for both Grants Pass and Eagle Point. In addition, they have reduced their operating hours at our transfer stations and recycle depots.
“At this time, all collection routes are currently running, and customer service representatives are available,” said SOS.
The Redwood and Kerby Transfer Stations & Recycle Depots are now open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Saturday, and closed Sundays. Eagle Point Recycle Depot is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday, and closed Saturdays and Sundays.
Republic Services made a similar announcement. All service routes will be running on normal schedule, but they have suspended bulk item pick-up. They will only pick up trash in a cart or in bags beside the cart. No loose items. All recycling must be in the cart, including cardboard.
“The time your waste is collected may fluctuate, please have waste out the night before to ensure collection,” said Republic Services.
Effective April 12, the Merlin Transfer Station will be open during regular hours Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. Customers are encouraged to pay with a debit or credit card to reduce interaction between the public and Republic Services employees.
