GRANTS PASS – The City of Grants Pass Parks and Property Management Division has reopened the Spray Park at Riverside Park just in time for the coming summer heat. Spray Park hours will be noon to 8 p.m. each day. Visitors to the Spray Park are reminded to follow posted restrictions related to COVID-19 and social distancing requirements. Dogs are never allowed at the Spray Park.
Applicable restrictions include people from different households remaining six feet of distance from each other. Visitors are reminded to wash hands and arms frequently, including before and after using the splash pad.
Visitors should use cloth face coverings as feasible outside of the water area. Face coverings are most essential in times when physical distancing is difficult to maintain. It is not advised to wear face coverings in the water. Face coverings can be difficult to breathe through when they’re wet.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own drinking water, hand sanitizer, and avoid touching any surfaces. Restrooms may be closed or have less than twice per day cleanings. There is an inherent risk of Covid-19 in public places, and those in high-risk categories are reminded of recommendations to stay home to stay safe.
Features of the Spray Park include splash pads with control buttons that are pushed by the participants to make the sequencer run the features for 3-minute intervals.
The smaller kid’s splash pad features the Flower Shower, Ride & Spray Horse, Ride & Spray Zebra, Water Weave, and Pop Dropps. The larger splash pad features the 3-Bucket Fill N Spill, Mission Hill Showers, Water Fence, and Water Arch.
The highlight of the larger pad is the Tidal Barrel, which has a "big splash" effect. The barrel fills up and then spills its contents around the base of the tank creating a circular sheet of water with a 16 ft. radius.
